Each time we returned to Rachel House I would breathe a sigh of relief as we walked through the front doors and our bags were lifted out of our hands. We were always made to feel so welcome. Blake loved so much about Rachel House, especially the pool. I think that because he wasn’t able to sit up or support himself, the water made him weightless so that made him feel relaxed. He also loved the sensory room and all the music activities.

Living Well
We help the whole family to live well
Caring for a seriously unwell child can be exhausting for the whole family.
The pressure of round-the-clock care can put a strain on family life. Parents need to be well to care for all their children.
Our care and support includes the whole family.
Parents should not just be carers and children should be able to have fun, no matter how short their life is.

Sibling and family support
Brothers and sisters of seriously ill children often describe how hard their childhood is.
We understand that siblings of children with complex care and support needs often themselves require some additional support to help them understand the world around them, to recognise and understand their feelings and build resilience.
Our Spiritual Care and Bereavement Team can help if your children need someone to talk to. We can facilitate conversations and provide a neutral, confidential and non-judgemental space for you and your family to share your feelings.
Our fun Activities Team help children be included and have fun, creating precious memories for your whole family that will last a lifetime.
Our Family Support Team can help you navigate complex situations that you might be experiencing.
We're here to give you space to be a family
We care for the whole family, not just the child who is ill to live well with complexity, worry and uncertainty. We can support siblings, parents, carers, other family members and significant people in your child's life.
