I feel privileged to do the job that I do. I learn so much from the children and families that I meet. At the heart of my role is identifying the hope that can be found, even in the worst of situations.
Care at hospital
We work closely with staff in hospitals
CHAS works closely with NHS doctors and nurses. Some of the doctors, nurses and social workers you might meet in the children’s hospitals in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Inverness and Kilmarnock are CHAS staff or funded by CHAS.
Support in hospitals
Our doctors, nurses and social workers work with the doctors who are also specialists in your child’s condition to plan care in the way you would like. If a child is in hospital for a long time, our Nurse and Family Support Team may be able to pop in to provide other support that you might need.
Diana Children's Nurses
Ten years ago, Caroline became our very first Diana Children’s Nurse, providing specialist care for families and education to healthcare staff. Named in honour of Princess Diana and funded by the government to commemorate her life and work, we are now fortunate to have three Diana Children’s Nurses across Scotland: Caroline covers the West of Scotland, Louise is based in Aberdeen, and Judith works in Lothian.
Our Diana Children's Nurses provide direct care to babies, children and young people and support end of life care with other teams, in hospitals, in communities across Scotland.
These amazing nurses are there for you, to help provide choices for you when you think there are none.
Everyone is unique so we support in many different ways
Collaborating with other care teams, we ensure seamless support.
From the early days of diagnosis throughout the child’s life, bereavement and beyond, CHAS will be by your side, helping you to navigate and cope with the journey ahead.
