Care in hospice
Our hospices - Rachel House and Robin House
Rachel House in Kinross and Robin House in Balloch are the only children’s hospices operating across Scotland. Both hospices are designed in a way to feel like home.
Our hospices provide integrated palliative and end-of-life care, as well as respite care for your entire family.
Rachel and Robin House hospices provide a space for your family to create precious memories together and to experience much needed respite, or a day visit.
Time together as a family
Parents and children can enjoy time together as a family and relax. Your child will be cared for by experienced staff who understand your child's care and needs, giving you a break.
Home comforts
With many facilities and fun activities, home-cooked meals and comfortable rooms, parents and children have the space and time to create precious memories as a family.
Step-down care
If your child has been in hospital for a long time or has had surgery, we can help prepare you and your family to care for them when they come home. This is 'step-down' care.
Emergency care
Sometimes, we can help in emergencies when things get really tough, like when a family member is sick, or your child’s care changes suddenly.
Not your usual care environment
We take pride in not looking like a typical clinical environment; our staff do not wear uniforms (however you will be able to identify them from their CHAS alphabet name badges).
Beautiful gardens
Both hospices have beautiful gardens, thanks to our in-house facilities team and our lovely volunteers. Our gardens are fully accessible with all our downstairs bedrooms facing on to and opening out to our gardens. Our hospices enjoy being located close to the banks of Loch Leven (Rachel House) and Loch Lomond (Robin House).
Meaningful goodbye
The hospices provide a space for a child to die with dignity, and for families to say a meaningful goodbye. After a child's death, the Rainbow Rooms in the hospices offer a safe space for you to stay with your child, process your grief and say goodbye.
Everyone is unique so we can support in many different ways
By working closely with other care teams, we ensure seamless support.
From the early days of diagnosis, throughout your child’s life, through bereavement and beyond, CHAS will be by your side, helping you to navigate and cope with the journey ahead.
