Hairy Highland Coo Trail - Perth Hub Volunteer
The Hairy Highland Coo Trail is coming to Perth and Kinross, 28 June - 6 September 2024, raising vital funds for Children’s Hospices Across Scotland. Each of our coos has been transformed into a unique masterpiece by a talented artist and enjoys its own special spot along the trail.
We're looking for reliable volunteers, aged 18+, to welcome visitors to our Perth city centre hub, making sure they are equipped and ready to explore our udderly amazing art display, hearing tales of their adventures as they tracked down each sculpture and chatting about how the trail will support the work of CHAS.
What activities will I be involved in?
- Engaging with visitors
- Taking cash and card payments for merchandise
- Keeping sales area tidy and secure
- Re-stocking
- Representing CHAS
- You will also get the chance later to join the volunteer teams at our farewell weekend (21-22 September)) and/or the closing auction of coos (Thurs 26th September), all taking place at Scone Palace.
What skills and abilities will I need to have?
- Friendly and outgoing personality
- Good communication skills
- Attention to detail
- Able to work as part of a small team
- Happy to talk about the Coo Trail and to chat briefly about the services CHAS provides, signposting people to our website www.chas.org.uk for further information.
How much time should I offer?
Ideally, you will choose from one, or more, of the following weekly shifts over 10 weeks from Thursday 4th July:
Thursday, Friday, Saturday 10am-12.30pm or 12.30-3pm each day
We will also be able to offer additional 'bank' shifts to accommodate holidays. etc.
What ongoing learning/support/guidance will I receive?
It's important to us that you feel happy, safe and confident in your role. At your first shift your Volunteer Manager will take you through a short induction so you have a clear understanding of your role and responsibilities; you will also learn more about the Hairy Highland Coo Trail and CHAS so you can talk confidently to visitors to the Hub.

We will pay your out of pocket expenses in line with the CHAS volunteer expenses policy.
