Cally celebrating Christmas with mum

A life-changing accident left Cally brain-damaged, wheelchair-bound, and with quadriplegic cerebral palsy. She was just four years old. Her mum, Kate, needed to provide 24-hour care.

Thanks to your loving support, CHAS stepped in to offer CHAS at Home visits and respite stays at our Rachel House hospice in Kinross.

"We were lucky enough to enjoy two Christmas stays together at Rachel House. The nurses and all the staff went out of their way to make it the most special time for us and all the other children and families staying there."

"Rachel House is full of love and laughter at Christmas - it's truly magical. The whole place is beautifully decorated. Santa comes for a visit, there are special arts and crafts for the kids, you can make your own stockings, and the kitchen staff bakes the most delicious Christmas cookies for everyone to enjoy."

Caring for a child with complex needs is incredibly difficult, especially on your own around Christmas.

"The CHAS at Home visits were fantastic, the nurses were so lovely and would take Cally on walks, to the cinema or do sensory things with her. They became like part of our family."

"I was quite scared about going to the hospice for the first time. I didn't want to think about going to a place that was about saying goodbye to Cally, but as soon as I walked through the doors we were greeted with warm smiles. It felt like we were being given a huge hug. Rachel House became our safe place to make the most special memories together."

"I still buy Cally a little present every year, but the memories CHAS gave me with my daughter are the greatest gift I will ever receive. Please help CHAS to keep the joy alive for other families facing the death of their child this Christmas."

Thank you

Kate, Cally's mummy
