Thank you to everyone who attended the CHAS Rocking Horse Ball.
This year we took our guests to A Whole New World and what an evening we had…
The evening started with Black Cherry cocktail courtesy of Whitley Neill Gin on the lawn at Prestonfield. GAMTA students kicked off the entertainment with a wonderful Aladdin-themed opener, followed by an opening impressionist number from our host for the evening, Jess Robinson. Throughout the night our guests enjoyed games and raffles with prizes such as two business class flights to Istanbul courtesy of Turkish Airlines and £1k cash courtesy of Conifox, which was locked in a glass safe alongside the genie lamp. Alex Fleming did a wonderful job of raising the bids for our live auction, with the star prize being a beautiful elephant courtesy of ArtFe.
However, the most poignant part of the evening was hearing from CHAS Parent, Andy White. Andy talked about the incredible support he received for his son Leo at Rachel House. Andy said "The memory that stands out for me more than anything was Leo's last night. We knew that in all probability that he was not going to be with us for much longer. The medical director of CHAS Pat Carragher, who we had a wonderful relationship with was present throughout. We had moved two beds together so that we could all snuggle together. Pat kicked off his shoes, kicked Gill and me off the bed and lay down next to Leo to chat to him, telling him stories and how proud he was of how he had fought. As you can imagine, the tears were flowing." This was a wonderful example of the personalised support we provide to families and the pledge moment after Andy's speech raised a phenomenal £25,570 in the space of ten minutes.
We are delighted to share with you this wonderful film of the evening beautifully captured by Connor at Nest Marketing, along with photo's courtesy of Scott Near/CameraShy Photography and our volunteer photographer, Bill Sinclair and the hilarious GIFS and AI photo's from BLUR Productions.
We raised a phenomenal £130,500 (£94,500 after costs) for CHAS on the night.
